FAMU Welcomes Rattlers to “The Hill” With Education, Culture and Social Activities

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida A&M University (FAMU) Office of Student Activities, Campus Recreation and the Campus Activity Board (CAB) will host the annual Welcome Week for all incoming freshmen, from Saturday, August 16 to Sunday, August 24.

“We are looking forward to this year’s welcome week,” said Saundra Inge, interim director of student activities. We strive to improve and enhance student life every chance we get, and this year we’ll have education, cultural and social activities for our incoming freshmen. By far one of the nicest activities will be our series of etiquette seminars. The seminar includes the lesson along with the meal and the chance to sit and have lunch or dinner with a member of FAMU’s administration, faculty and staff.”

Members of FAMU’s modeling troupes, whose hair will be styled by the campus barbershop, the Edge, will model proper business attire. The FAMU Royal Court will also be in attendance to greet students.

Welcome Week, coinciding with the move-in dates for incoming freshmen residing on campus, will include a week-long voter registration drive; the FAMU Athletics Spirit Showcase; shuttles to Target, after hours, for shopping trips; the Freshmen Talent Show: a seminar on credit and finances hosted by representatives from Wachovia; and a relationship panel featuring faculty from FAMU’s Counseling Center and FAMU students.

For more information on Welcome Week, please call (850) 599-3400.
